ThrowDownXIV, the "Holiday Hoedown ThrowDown" is this Monday night and MAN I'm really looking forward to it. It's been awhile since I made a supershort and while my free time is severely curtailed, as is the case for many of us, it was a necessary and refreshing experience to face the empty page and craft a movie from scratch yet again. It's a heartening experience to lean on both the Muse and one's comrades for inspiration and contribution and see movies somehow seem to make themselves during the process. As always, the Bob'sShorts experience is not so much about pleasing viewers as it is about testing yourself, learning, trying new things, and risking failure in such attempts. One of our TD14 folk learned a new editing system; I experimented with 24fps and the risks of "jello cam" in DSLRs, plus my script idea evolved into a (perhaps-not-too-surprising-for-those-who-know-my-past-supershorts) metaphysical direction. Here's hoping you take the plunge with us on our next outing.
